Meaning
Justice sits between two pillars with a sword upright in one hand and scales level in the other — and unlike her courthouse cousins, she wears no blindfold. She sees everything and weighs it anyway. This is the card of cause and effect made personal: decisions have consequences, actions have receipts, and the ledger is more accurate than anyone finds comfortable.
In a reading, Justice announces that truth is about to carry the day — in a literal legal or contractual matter, or in the quieter court where you judge your own conduct. If you have acted well, expect vindication. If not, the card offers the adult consolation: accountability now is cheaper than accountability later.
Upright: the level scales
Love
Honesty is the whole assignment. Imbalances — of effort, truth, or power — come up for correction, and the relationship that survives an honest accounting is worth keeping. Karmic connections and overdue conversations both surface now.
Career & money
Contracts, negotiations, and legal or compliance matters resolve on the merits — favourably if your case is sound. You get what your work has earned, no more, no less. Keep records straight and money dealings transparent.
Spirit
Practise radical honesty with yourself first. The examined life is this card's discipline: weigh your actions as evenly as you weigh everyone else's.
Reversed: the tilted beam
Reversed, the scales tilt. Sometimes the unfairness is genuinely external — a biased decision, a broken agreement, credit or blame landing on the wrong desk — and the card counsels documenting everything and pursuing correction through proper channels rather than fury. But it also probes for the tilt inside: the account you keep telling because it flatters you, the consequence you are dodging, the double standard applied to your own behaviour. Dishonesty here compounds like debt. The reversal's way out is unglamorous and immediate — tell the truth, accept your share, and re-level the beam yourself.
Frequently asked
What does Justice mean in a love reading?
It calls for total honesty and balance between partners — hidden things surface, unequal effort gets addressed. It can also mark karmic relationships where past actions, kind or careless, come home to roost.
Is Justice a yes or no card?
It answers conditionally: yes if you have acted fairly and your cause is just, no if the foundations are dishonest. Justice gives you the outcome you have earned, which makes it the deck's most literal maybe.
Which zodiac sign rules Justice?
Libra, the cardinal air sign symbolised by the scales — the only zodiac sign represented by an object. Libra brings the card its concern with balance, fairness, and clear-eyed weighing of both sides.
What does Justice mean reversed?
Reversed, it signals unfair treatment, dishonesty, or dodged accountability — sometimes a legal or contractual matter going sideways. Correct what you can control: tell the truth, keep records, and accept your own share cleanly.
