A cloaked figure stands head-bowed before three spilled cups, their contents soaking into the earth. Behind him — unregarded — two cups still stand full, and a bridge crosses the river toward home. The Five of Cups is grief in its fixated phase: real loss, honestly mourned, but with attention nailed to what spilled.
